One of a collection of photos from a 2013 trip (inspired by the Ken Burns documentary series) through the former Dust Bowl region taking in parts of the Texas panhandle, Oklahoma panhandle and southwest Kansas. Soundtrack was Bruce Springsteen’s The Ghost of Tom Joad. Highlight was the extraordinarily evocative but all too short drive west from Boise City to Guymon on US Route 64: it’s not difficult to picture in one’s mind the hard times described in Steinbeck’s The Grapes of Wrath.
